Beyond Religion - Priesthood
Beyond religion, beyond belief in anything external, there is Unknowing, a sublime kind of Knowing.
I believe it possible to extract the idea of 'priesthood' from its usual religious context, to create a path neither Buddhist nor Christian, while cherishing the essence of both. In this view, everyone is already lit from within and a potential bearer of peace.
Though we still live in the illusory world of separate bodies, we can learn to no longer project un-peace, subconcious guilt (guilt for the feeling of separation) onto it. We can learn to withdraw our belief in the idea of separation. We can come to KNOW AND EVEN EXPERIENCE that this isn't the truth.
This is called true perception. It is the happiness of seeing innocence in others and so knowing it as our own.
Longing
A profound and powerful feeling in the human heart is longing.
The universal longing for what is beyond chaos, for peace, for love. This is also the longing for Truth. In all religions, the direction to look is WITHIN. But how to channel and harness this power, or better, to let it harness us.
Priesthood simply AS A STATE OF BEING free from religious context can be truly useful if it orientates to inner peace. This is a way to embody the power of longing for peace. As priests we don't have a lantern, or a story to tell, we are the lantern, and in all our daily interaction.
Any heavy religious duty part is wholly unnecessary. Only a light, inner intention is required. Transmission is directly from the Self. The mind is healing itself. The journey within has anyway always been a private and personal one.
Its fruits are universal.
Darkness & Light
For where then, DOES the 'imperfect' world come from? The metaphysics can provide a strong framework, but without the necessary correction of perception and the practice of it in daily life, metaphysics are useless.
A correction of perception implies that any current perception is incorrect. All that is needed is a little willingness to be open to a new way of looking.
We cannot change what happens to us in life, but we can change our EXPERIENCE of it, and that is what counts. Putting the mind in its proper perspective, we take charge of cause, instead of being at the mercy of effect. Just being open to this idea is already a 'crack where the light comes in'.
Disaster
"Aster” means astral. Disaster means you’re not connected to that higher place 'above the battlefield' which may lead to disaster. The best way to be connected is to dis-spel that which seems to disconnect you. Then we can be guided to what’s best for everyone, instead of what’s best for our ego – that thing that wants us to believe that we are just a body, and to hold us under its spell of darkness.
